We received the sad news that Hugo Goosens had passed away.

Born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, 20-11-1947

Died in Vera Playa, Spain, 20-12-2024

It was Hugo's idea to establish the EVS European Volleyball Tournament for Statisticians, he is one of the co-founders of EVS and co-writer of the EVS Hymn.

Hi everyone,We are happy to invite all our EVS friends to a fantastic volleyball weekend, which will be held in early June in Southern Finland, in Espoo. We will move from the warm Mediterranean landscapes of Cagliari to far north, to Korpilampi in the heart of nature, amidst beautiful Finnish scenery.In June, nature awakens after a long winter, and you can experience the lushness of early summer and the long, bright days when the sun shines almost around the clock.During the weekend, you will have the opportunity to enjoy swimming in the pond, hiking on nature trails, and exploring a traditional Finnish sauna, which offers a unique relaxation experience.Warmly welcome everyone! We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your enthusiastic participation in EVS 2024 Cagliari, and because every year makes us even happier to be part of such a big, wonderful family we wish to leave you with just few simple words...
We've seen things you wouldn't believe,flaming volleyball attacks off the shoulders of the CUS,we watched the highest humidity trying in vain to take down the greatest players of European intergalactic space,we've seen humans flying flamingos to grab the victory flag,we watched the land of Sardinia welcome the children of Europe into its heart, water, sand, wind and mountains.All these moments will NOT be lost in time:they'll remain as memories in our hearts!It's time to say goodbye to Ajó.It's time to say welcome Noniin!
